90th LA County Fair returns Aug. 31 - Sept. 30
Fair is celebrating its 90th birthday by making Labor Day 2012 a four-day holiday weekend. The world’s largest county Fair will open its gates at 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 31.
Guests will enjoy special $1 admission for the first three hours each day Aug. 31-Sept. 3.
While enjoying your cotton candy and tasty fried treat at the Fair, make a pit stop at the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum presented by Automobile Club of Southern California, located in building 3A, in Esmeralda's Circus.
In the Museum, visitors can take an illuminated road trip down American highways and byways with its newest exhibit, Neon and the American Road featuring numerous vintage neon signs including the iconic Pep Boys and Mobil gas station Pegasus horse.
The Museum of Neon Art (MONA), whose temporary home is at the NHRA Museum, will host live demonstrations and interactive displays with Southern California neon artists. There will be lessons in chemistry, glass making, and physics - all wrapped up in the fascinating world of neon.
We've also joined the Fair's Kids Program to offer thousands of school children educational programs that make learning hands on and fun. We guarantee it'll be an enlightening experience for all!
Other must-see exhibits include the Moon: Six Decades of a Hot Rodding Eye-Con and Banks Power: The First 50 Years. Visitors can also test their drag racing reaction skills with another player on the NHRA's official reaction timer, better known as the Christmas Tree. Or, jump inside one of 15-time NHRA Funny Car champion John Force's Funny Cars and test your reaction time against his.
NOTE: If planning on visiting the Museum during the L.A. County Fair, please note that visitors must pay Fair admission to enter the NHRA Museum. Contact the Museum for more details, 909.622.3389 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
See you at the 90th anniversary celebration, Aug. 31-Sept. 30.
